She walked in and softly said, “Please take care of me,” her voice as gentle as cotton. Her skin was fair, her smile a bit shy, and her eyes would meet mine before quickly darting away—like a kitten. Her touch was delicate; even while helping me undress, I could feel her slight nervousness. During the bath, she chatted lightly while carefully tending to me, as if afraid to hurt me. Before I left, she held my hand and whispered, “Thank you.” In that moment, I almost didn’t want to go.
